Important Vietnam update, September 2026
Vietnam's apostille rules have just changed.
Older StudyTEFL guidance described a separate £150 Vietnam embassy-attestation service. That information is now outdated.

What has changed
Apostille.org.uk states that from 11 September 2026, Vietnam recognises Apostilles under the Hague Apostille Convention. For eligible UK documents, Vietnamese Embassy attestation will generally no longer be required. Instead, the document can be legalised with a UK apostille, including solicitor certification where required.

Check before you order
Because this change is extremely recent, check the requirements for your specific employer or work-permit application before ordering. Do not pay for the old Vietnam embassy-attestation route simply because an older guide tells you to.
Do I actually need an apostille?
Only legalise your TEFL certificate when the job or visa process requires it.
An apostille is useful when an overseas employer, immigration authority or government body asks for a UK document to be authenticated. It is not a compulsory upgrade to your StudyTEFL certificate.
For many teaching applications, the regular digital certificate and its verification record are enough. For some overseas work permits, legalisation is part of the document process. Requirements vary by country and can also change, so check the current instructions for the job and destination before ordering.
