The price is about A$55. The question is what the course actually contains.
Australia's TEFL market ranges from low-cost online certificates to regulated Level 5 diplomas and classroom-based training. Those aren't the same product, so it's worth comparing what a course includes, not only its price.

Using TEFL from Australia
Teach English online, or use TEFL for suitable jobs abroad.
Online TEFL jobs
Use your StudyTEFL certificate when applying to suitable online ESL employers that accept standard online TEFL. Individual companies separately set their own degree, nationality, experience and technical requirements.
Teaching abroad
Australian citizens can access many international TEFL markets, but employers and immigration authorities may also look at degrees, nationality, criminal record checks and work permits, on top of your TEFL certificate.
Certificate and apostille
A low-cost course with a professional, UK-issued certificate.
Current StudyTEFL core certificates use QR-linked verification, so employers can check the record online.
If legalisation is required, your StudyTEFL certificate follows the UK solicitor and FCDO apostille route, since it's UK-issued. Your own Australian-issued documents, such as a degree or police check, go through Australia's DFAT legalisation process instead, a separate process from your certificate.
i
Most learners won't need an apostille
For many online applications, the digital certificate on its own is enough. Only pay for legalisation if a specific employer, visa authority or government office actually asks for it.
Cheap TEFL course Australia FAQs
Short answers before you buy.
How much is StudyTEFL in Australia?+
The 120-hour Complete TEFL costs $39 USD at checkout, which is roughly A$55 at typical exchange rates. Your bank or card provider sets the exact Australian-dollar amount, and rates move, so treat this as an estimate rather than a fixed price.
Is StudyTEFL an accredited TEFL course?+
StudyTEFL's core courses are privately accredited by OTCAC, and StudyTEFL also holds CPD-verified accreditation.
Is StudyTEFL a Level 5 qualification?+
No. StudyTEFL is privately accredited online TEFL. It is not CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or an Ofqual-regulated Level 5 qualification, and we say so plainly. If a job specifically requires one of those, choose the qualification it asks for.
Why is StudyTEFL so much cheaper than other Australian-facing providers?+
StudyTEFL is online-first and built for scalable digital delivery, without expensive physical training centres or a large marketing budget. That keeps the price low without removing the video coverage, scenarios, tutor support or certificate.
Can Australians teach English online with StudyTEFL?+
Yes, for suitable online ESL roles. Individual employers set their own requirements around degrees, nationality, experience and technical setup, so check the specific role before you enrol.
Can I use the certificate to teach abroad from Australia?+
Yes, for jobs where the employer accepts the qualification and you meet its separate visa, degree and documentation requirements. Requirements vary a great deal by country and employer, so always check the specific role.
Can the StudyTEFL certificate be apostilled from Australia?+
Yes. Since the StudyTEFL certificate is UK-issued, it follows the UK legalisation route through a solicitor and the FCDO. Your own Australian-issued documents, such as a degree or police check, go through Australia's DFAT legalisation process instead, a separate process from your certificate.
Can I inspect the course before paying?+
Yes. StudyTEFL publishes a real free lesson so you can inspect the LMS, video, tasks and assessment style before enrolling.
